Heating up the Global Warming Debate, If There Still Is One
Everyone from Al Gore to Yvo de Boer, the head of the United Nations climate program, has said that the debate over global warming is over. The folks at the Heartland Institute didn’t get the message.
With the slogan, “Global Warming Is Not a Crisis,” the think tank (which between 1999 and 2005 was funded by ExxonMobil) kicked off a two-day conference this morning in New York to debunk what it calls a “fake consensus” on the human causes of global warming.
The conference program, featuring a slate of scientists and politicians, is a familiar litany of arguments against climate change orthodoxy, and includes panels exploring everything from the Medieval Warm Period to the failures of the Kyoto Protocol to the impact urban heat islands have on temperature change. Today, the conference released its rebuttal of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports, arguing that global warming isn’t as bad as commonly made out, isn’t caused by humans anyway, and doesn’t merit expensive schemes to combat it.
But the real heat comes from the conference taking place at all. Many in the blogosphere consider global-warming skeptics like those on parade in midtown Manhattan to be at best flat-earthers and, at worst, paid shills for the oil industry.
The DeSmog Blog, covering what it calls “denial-a-palooza,” set out to “to mingle with the conspiracy theorists, industry parrots, puzzle-makers, scientists for hire and those who just can’t let go of their flat-earth ways.” The Daily Kos sees “a gathering of people who may have some science in their backgrounds but have long since sold their soul to the energy industry.” Joseph Romm of Climate Progress took aim at media coverage of global warming skeptics. In the opposite corner, the WSJ edit page last month, writing about the conference, argued that debate over global warming was being stifled.
ExxonMobil didn’t sponsor this conference, which runs through tomorrow afternoon. Instead, the bills are paid by an eclectic mix of free-market think tanks (including one from Pakistan), carbon-questioning NGOs, shareholder activists, and science groups critical of the U.N’s climate research.
Given that line-up, and the Heartland Institute’s stated mission—“to discover and promote free-market solutions to social and economic problems”—two of the presentations seem a bit jarring: They’re given by Vladmir Putin’s science advisor and Mr. Putin’s former chief economic advisor.
Nice report. Looks like you think the science is settled as well. I, for one, think the flat eathers reside in the group that believes humans are to blame for global warming. They fail to acknowledge any science or statistical evidence that their precious models are wrong. They certainly don’t work backwards to confirm past temperatures nor do they acknowledge the role that the sun plays in our temperatures.
The true climate skeptics are the scientists of the IPCC. They practice empirical science, which is an organized form of skepticism. They are the rightful owners of the noble title “skeptic.”
Heartland and the rest of the Exxon climate clan are not skeptics. They are denialists. They use the techniques of political operatives to cast doubt on science, and demean the tradition of scientific skepticism.

See also this piece in the Guardian — “Rupert Murdoch’s Black Sheep” — which takes aim at the WSJ editorial page for supporting the conference and the denialist agenda. It’s tantamount to taking a anti-business stance, given the activity in carbon markets and the transformation overtaking the carbon economy.

I would like to point out the phrase, “Facts dont lie, but liars use statistics”. They are using every method in the book to throw against “humans being involved in global warming”. When will they start taking responsibility for their actions rather than try to say that Global Warming doesnt exist (”using their facts and scientists”). Lets shift to another focus.. if they cut down all the tree’s.. where are we going to get our oxygen we breath? I have not seen 1 logging company run by any other species of animal. So it is caused by humans. Tree’s have proven to lower its surrounding temperature so how tree cutting its effects not caused by Humans? Burning oil is the same deal. I would bring Pres. Bush into this arguement (being that he didnt even know the full impact of Kyoto), but he knows nothing about anything.. so its not fair to even include him in any logical arguement.
Last week a group of NASA scientist proclaimed that earth is actually undergoing a global cooling trend (without any fingers aimed at human activity, by the way). More than 52% of the world’s published scientist have stated that there is no global warming trend yet you rarely read or hear of that fact. The Antartica ice shelf is actually growing while the famous Ozone whole above that continent is shrinking! On top of all this, the overwhelming majority of America’s certified meteorologists have consistently proclaimed that there is no global warming trend at this point in time. Throw in the fact that NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) has emphatically backed the science behind the “no trend in global warming” conscensus. Follow the credible science and you’ll come back to the right answers….
hi my name is brianna
I am still trying to get over Al Gore “scoring” a Nobel award over a dumb home-made flick. This goes to show how much “spin” there is in all of these “end of the world” studies…
The true climate skeptics are the scientists of the IPCC. They practice empirical science, which is an organized form of skepticism. They are the rightful owners of the noble title “skeptic.”
Heartland and the Exxon funded climate clan are not skeptics. They are denialists. They use the techniques of political operatives to cast doubt on science, and demean the tradition of scientific skepticism.

It’s interesting that the WSJ editorial page — in defense of Heartland — claims debate over global warming is being stifled. It’s own pages do not permit any commentary except from climate skeptics and deniers.
Nothing is absolute. What is obvious, however, even to the species of ostrich, no doubt, is that the human race has had a profound effect on the earth, and if humans, who having great power over the destiny of this planet, ignore the notion of responsibility, our future will be in grave danger. Libertarian pro-business, anti- responsibility organizations such as the Heartland Institute are hardly non-biased “scientific” organizations. They are solely propaganda machines for big business.
How has this issue become an issue of faith? In the face of hard facts it seems many are still inclined to argue that the earth is warming. How can we not see the hidden agenda here? What good will the Kyoto treaty bring us besides hurting ‘evil’ corporations? The fact that China and India will not be subject to the treaty should be telling. As stated by Mister G we must follow credible science for the answers not carrer politicians with agendas.
I cannot believe people still believe the lies of global warming. What is going on people open your eyes before our government takes over. This is the perfect tool for them to controll us cant you see that?
9 straight years of cooling= Global Warming More sea ice in Antarctica ever before observed= Global Warming Most snowfall in North America since 1966= Global Warming etc etc etc!!!
In response to the tree saver’s comment: “if they cut down all the tree’s.. where are we going to get our oxygen we breath? I have not seen 1 logging company run by any other species of animal.”
Beavers are not only enthusiastic tree cutters, they are fond of modifying wetland areas simply to suit their convenience and to build their island mansions. Down with Castor canadensis!
I cant belive I was born in a time like this. We together Nation with Nation should allie to stop this and save animals that are at risk at extinction and make a new energy rescource that is less damiging then fossil fuels. We should start now not later not listen to presidents or scientist but I want now!!!!!.
The Guardian has an interesting piece called Rupert Murdoch’s Black Sheep. It examines the WSJ’s role in promoting the agenda of climate skeptics.

This is what climate scientists over at Real Climate write about the Heartland Institute’s 2008 International Conference on Climate Change:
What if you held a conference, and no (real) scientists came?
Real Climate
30 January 2008
Over the past days, many of us have received invitations to a conference called “The 2008 International Conference on Climate Change” in New York. At first sight this may look like a scientific conference - especially to those who are not familiar with the activities of the Heartland Institute, a front group for the fossil fuel industry that is sponsoring the conference. You may remember them. They were the promoters of the Avery and Singer “Unstoppable” tour and purveyors of disinformation about numerous topics such as the demise of Kilimanjaro’s ice cap.
A number of things reveal that this is no ordinary scientific meeting:
*************
Also, in August, 2006, I gave a power-point-presentation at the Veterans For Peace National Convention titled, “A World of Hurt or Hope: The National Security Implications of Global warming/ Abrupt Climate Change.
Check it out. Here is the link:

best of luck to all
There is Global Warming when I am able to go take a swim with the polar bears because they lack ice to live on!
who ever read the message on top choose the destiny of our planet. thank you
i’m not much of an environmentalist and the data is all over place, but it seems obvious that stats and data aside, one can’t pump out the amount of pollution we do and have it not have an effect.
In an interesting spin off Global Warming, since world wide temperatures have been in decline during this decade, it is no longer Global Warming, but Global Climate Change. Make sure to use the right words to describe something that is not occuring.
plz plz plz who ever reads this today or tomorrow you have the power it a little but if everyone does it makes alot of help for this planet who cares about stars or anything we should care about our planet and animals. People think god will help us but he will not we should do it not wait for him this could be any religion we should do it not them I know it sounds crazy but we can change the world with just 1 person and that could be me.
I’m tired of the insulting name-calling. The Earth is definitely flattening!
I am the person who wrote all the foothill high student so bye bye hope u will understand this is for my future i am not going to waste my life on people who did not want to stop using there stupid cars ok so think about a little boy being born and what he will suffer in the future and animals born and know they wont last long.
muhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaa!!!!!!!!!!
nfojui btgoivugjrvigvgis bgg nhiugtbreuigvbr vguyrb gyrurhg uerfb ery fbv eufgb yo 8gbfiygbveyfv
Foothill High students should spend less time on global warming and more time learning how to write coherently.
Trash it all for the sake of convenience and greed.
One would wonder when people are going to start thinking for themselves. Even when every bit of evidence th socialist and liberals can come up with to support “global warming” is logically refuted I hear and read the same lines over and over again. Look at it this way in the late 70’s the entire planet was going to be covered with ice. Now we have global warming? Please use the intelligence that you were given instead of following the flock of the cliff.
We are screwed. This kind of thought/attitude will end with us irriversibly damaging the planet. And those in power don’t care because they get steady cash flow! I am going to go home an turn on every light in the house, then drive my car in a circle all night. Nobody else cares, so why should i!!!!!
The climate change problem, at its core, is plagued by politics on both sides of the issue. It seems that the “science” I learned is no longer applicable. It seems scientists have become hatchet men for whatever group wants to fund their “research”. Well I don’t do research in their particular field, but these “scientists” might re-start their research here:
1- The overall global temperature of the earth has stayed flat or slightly cooled in the last 10 years.
2- Man-made CO2 output has increased by 3-5% each of the past 10 years.
(BTW, the funny thing is, those numbers come from scientific papers proclaiming that there IS a link between the warming of the earth and CO2 emissions)
The global warming crowd, er climate change crowd have been predicting eminent doom of our environment since the 1970’s. Back then we needed to brace ourselves for the current impending ice-age being predicted. Today, these clowns actually believe humans have the power to warm or cool the planet “at will” so to speak, so as “good stewards of the planet”, we need to radically alter our lifestyles and “this will reverse global warming”, or reduce the earth’s overall global temperatures. Only the human race would be so vain as to assume it can actually control the global environment in which we live…..in yet we cannot predict an accurate 7 day weather forecast
Hey. Just looking around at your comments, Keith, doesn’t look like “folks in the blogoshere” are on any side or the other. I know a lot of bloggers who are GW skeptics.
Here’s an idea for you: next time do a story on the content of the seminars, instead of an editorial about how you feel the event fits into human events.
Talk radio and blogging. Endless worthless self-massaging. What a waste of time.
Why don’t you brilliant, know-it-alls become climate scientists and publish your debunking in peer-reviewed journals?
Hey biggreen19… the greenhouse effect has been known for a long time. Here’s a video clip from an educational series from 1958 directed by Frank Capra (probably best known for It’s a Wonderful Life).
http://youtube.com/watch?v=0lgzz-L7GFg
Oh, and global warming as a consequence of the combustion of hydrocarbons has been theorized since the 19th century. The renowned Swedish chemist Svante Arrhenius was among the first to recognize the potential issue.
Funny….I never got a single dime from ExxonMobil and I still think anthropogenic GW is a sham & that Al Gore is a snake oil salesman. Tell you what, Keith — sell your car, sell your house, eat organic granola, and go live in your dirt floor yurt along w/ your 2 goats.
Well, wether there is global warming or isn’t, fighting over wether its real doesn’t solve anything, so if u think its real, get a hybrid, if you don’t, enjoy your SUV. Don’t trash some for thinking of new ways to make energy or alternatives, exploration and creativity are good things. On the other hand we wont have fossil feuls forever, so if its CO2, the problem should fix itself.
I can’t believe that all these stupid conservite’s that think they have PhD’s in Atmospheric Science and believe that beavers are the main cause of Climate Change. I have to agree with the tree saver here, corporations and governments have to take responsibility for there actions and I don’t care how many smoke and mirror statistics they come up with.
I’m curious why noted journalist and researcher Thomas Friedman isn’t participating. It seems to fit him since the panel is composed of “flat-earthers”.
It’s telling that a completely illiterate High School student thinks he is a good judge of the scientific arguments here. It’s also telling that the Global Warmers have to attribute greed or bribe-taking to skeptics of their theory.
I am a Conservationist, and I’ve been opposed to burning coal and oil (and supported Nuclear) for 30 years. But human-caused CO2-driven Global Warming is a HOAX. I could go into detailed science on this (starting with Antarctic ice cores), but what’s the use when the Global Warmers are plugging their ears and humming, with their eyes shut tight?
I can’t believe how many grammatical errors there are in these comments. Are you all illiterate? Or maybe if I put it this way you will understand better: “i cant believe how many gramiticle erors their are in thes coments are u all iliterat?”
Why does the theory that humans are the cause of global warming have to be true in order for humans to continue to make an effort to be responsible for how we use our resources and what kind of fuels we use?
We need to get over this fear campaign and just decide to act responsibly, regardless.
Just because we are not having the impact that we originally thought we were having on the environment doesn’t mean we should through our arms up shouting “I am going to go home an turn on every light in the house, then drive my car in a circle all night. Nobody else cares, so why should i!!!!!”. Let’s grow-up people.
Even if you accept at face-value the IPCC’s latest reports (I don’t), the “consensus” solution of severely capping CO2 emissions in the DEVELOPED WORLD ONLY (China, India, etc. are “exempt” under Kyoto and similar proposals) simply harms the economies of the developed countries and doesn’t fix the climate. An excellent book by Bjorn Lomborg, who fully accepts the IPCC view on AGW, argues this persuasively in “Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist’s Guide to Global Warming”.
Whether you “buy” global warming or not, the ONLY visible alternative on the scale needed to replace fossil fuels is nuclear power. It is very clean, very safe, inexpensive and would provide the U.S. with much desired energy independence. If you need convincing, read Gwyneth Cravens’ “The Power to Save the World, The Truth About Nuclear Energy”. Build a 1,000 nuclear plants and put the polluting coal and petroleum industries out of business! Works for me.
This same Chicken Little “the sky is falling! the sky is falling!” happened in the ’70’s, too. Only then it was Global Cooling. Trust me- you put a Democrat in the Oval Office, and this climate-whining will go away. It’s all just a nice, little political ploy to make the “Old White Guy Republicans” look like the “flat earthers” the limp-wristed,pierced,tattooed, Socialist-leaning Democrats want them to be. When the brother or Hillary get in office, the Chicken Little environmentalist-whiners will be silenced. It happened before, it will happen again.
The mere claim that the global warming and man’s involvement is a proven fact, proves that this issue has very little to do with science. Science has always promoted dissent as a means to help discover the truth about things.
In any aspect of life, when dissent is silenced, I start to question the truth of the claim.
Read the Glenn Beck’s news letter of todays show, and scroll down to weather stations in America. They have these tempeture gauges on top of buildings and along major highways. The tempeture will be influenced at least by 5 or more degree’s. The al gores of this country are getting faulty input because of the bad thermometer locations.
Does anyone else get annoyed that the politicians want so desperately to scare people into living ‘green’ with global warming alarmism? Do they not realize that both conservatives and liberals are FOR environmental conservation?
Just because conservatives disagree with the consensus about global warming, does not mean that they don’t want environmental improvements (less emissions, organic fuel).
Lets address the real issue, and drop the ridiculous alarmism. There will be significantly more support.
Take a look outside lately anyone, cause if you did you would notice something isn’t right.
The governments role is to protect us from foreign invaders only. Read the Constitution. It doesn’t say anything about global warming.
Thank you to Anonymous:
“Let’s address the real issue and drop the ridiculous alarmism.” Finally, some common sense and the first concrete suggestion on how to move forward.
Factoid: Mother Nature is subsidized by ExxonMobile.
Factoid: 2 for 1 Carbon Credits for sale online at www.algorescamdiscount.com
Factoid: Humans cause Global Warming and Global Cooling…we are that good.
Factoid: water, though plentiful on earth, is not consumed as often as soda in the U.S. which contains CO2, and therefore, H20 is not really that important when mentioned in GH discussions.
Factoid: the IPCC does not emit CO2 and either do the people who buy carbon credits.
Factoid: that big firey thing in the sky during daylight hours, that you can’t look directly at with no eye protection, that can swallow the earth thousands and thousands of times over, and controls our planet’s orbit and is the primary energy source for earth and life is the Republican’s fault.
Factoid: Peer reviewed means I’ve read the abstract and was moved by it. And all of my concensus friends agree….now pass the pot.
Factoid: 95% of CO2 is natural, the other 5% was created in a right wing think tank.
Factoid: “You” cannot prove AGW. So act now because it will be too late when we figure out that it might be something we can’t control.
The best way to end this debate is to ask the scientists and the climate experts. Oh, wait, if I remember, the IPCC consisting of 1000 of the top climate scientists and experts from the world, did conclude that the evidence overwhelmingly points to global warming caused by human activity.
Hey, Keith… before you go off with your implicit claims that anyone who doesn’t believe in climate change must be funded by the oil companies, remember, environmental lobbyists actually outspend the energy lobbyists 3-to-1.
If you’re going to include ‘hidden’ biases in your story next time, at least makes sure they’re accurate. Thanks!
Glen Beck - who is he? What does he really know? Believe what you want. Ignorance has become the new religion in America. The bottom line is that humans have the power to destroy the earth, be it at the push of a button, or more slowly. What ever happened to the old maxums that we leared as children, such as “waste not want not”. “do not get into debt”. etc. Idiots rule, in the White House and on the air waves.
Humans lived happy lives on earth for thousands of years. Just ask native americans. Wait we killed most of them for lust of money.
In the last 100 or so we have screwed everything up with the use of oil. The issue of peak oil will ultimately curb global warming anyway. Use solar energy to gen electricity. But nobody owns the sun so no profit. Why do we need money to be happy?
Hey, Reid Smith. Where did you get those spending numbers? How about some attribution, please.
I will be willing to bet that you could have a conference today titled “Is the earth really round ? ” and find at least 100 “experts” who would be willing to say we cannot be 100% sure that the earth is round, so they are not convinced really, till all the evidence is in. The question of whether global warming is real is a question of science and not of the opinion of the majority.
Hi, im doing a report about global warming too.
Native Americans happily fought amongst themselves for centuries before the arrival of Europeans. They just weren’t as effective in destroying their enemies without smallpox and gunpowder.
Factoid: The “Have a Nice Day” T-Shirt was invented by really happy Native Americans….just ask them.
If the debate is over, then global warming does not exist. Most people don’t understand it. They just agree or disagree based on their own personal agenda.
With the debate over, we will not talk about it and everyone will forget about it.
The earth is not round, it’s a oblate spheroid.
Here is a very compelling alternative take on the underlying cause of climate change by a scientist not funded by energy interests:
http://www.sciencebits.com/CO2orSolar
The debate is by no means over.
Twenty years ago, it was the tobacco companies that claimed nicotine was not addictive and that smoking did not cause cancer. After all, plenty of smokers have lived long, healthy lives, right? The exception disproves the rule (?!) Pro-business Republicans parroted their masters’ talking points. Twenty years from now, it’ll be some other industry that has a Republican administration in its back pocket, subverting science.
Factoid: Polar bears are pretty good swimmers. Next time you see a pic of a polar bear “stranded” on a chunk of ice….remember, it was standing on that very piece of ice when it the shelf collapsed into the ocean due to AGW.
Anyone living in NYC, please look out a window and tell me how thick the ice is. Fifteen thousand years ago it was 100 meters thick. No ice? Maybe the climate in parts of North America has warmed a bit in the past 15,000 years?
The ‘little ice age’ bottomed about the years 1500-1550. Has the climate of central Europe cooled or warmed since then? Search the internet for hundred-year-old pictures of glaciers and compare them with contemporary photos. Include some from our own Glacier National Park. Does the photographic evidence indicate the glaciers are growing or shrinking?
I too was a sceptic until I studied the subject a bit and applied a little, simple logic. I have concluded the evidence is irrefutable; compared to 15,000 years ago and about 500 years ago and about 150 years ago, the heat content of the surface of our earth has risen - else most of us Americanos and Canucks and Limeys would be living under 100 meters of super-cooled ice. We aren’t, so ’nuff said.
Mr. G:
Only one of your points, that being that the Antartic ice shelf is expanding (and only in a small area) is true. The rest is nonsense. The science community involved in the research and analysis of global warming (rather than all published scientists as you state) is overwhelming convinced it is happening and is anthropogenic. NASA and NOAA scientists have not questioned the global warming thesis in over a decade and today are two of the biggest proponents. Cite your sources for these “tudies” and let us decide the truth.
Every week there is more and more frost building up in my freezer, now to the point that I can hardly get at my Hungry Man dinners and my cans of Copenhagen. So explain that, Al Gore you gay commie illegal alien flag burner!
jack-
Please indulge me and read the article I linked to, then explain where Shaviv goes wrong in his analysis.
What is really absent from this discussion is some numbers.
In order to raise planet temperature, one must raise temperature of the ocean. It should be possible to estimate the volume of the world ocean. When we know the volume, we could compute number of calories required to raise the temperature by 1 degree. I can bet that amount of energy required would be far more than humanity can produce, no matter what they do.
If someone can prove me wrong, I would be glad to read about it. So that is the challenge for Al Gore coolaid drinkers! We need some numbers, if you can provide.
Mr. Frosty
Factoid: Rosie O’Donnel driving a compact car is damn funny.
Factoid: If Michael Moore did a cannonball into the ocean, sea level rise would be 2 feet according to the IPCC and the resulting tsunami would wipe out all coastal cities. Head to the high grounds NY!!
Factiod: It’s been a damn cold winter. Concerned scientist blame global warming.
I think anybody with both intelligence and honesty should understand that when it comes to what is causing gullible warming we don’t know for sure. The debate isn’t even remotely over. I think it is honest to say we think it is caused by man or the prevailing theory is that it is caused by man or even it is almost certainly caused by man. But to portray it being caused by man as a fact (as way too many in the gullible warming crowd do) is completely and totally dishonest and it simply and unquestionably can be referred to as a lie. I don’t trust people who lie to me and I don’t think anybody else should either so if the gullible warming crowd wants us to trust and believe them I think they need to stop with the lies for starters. Then they might try understanding that if they want people to have respect for them they might try having respect for people who don’t agree. If they insist on people being loyal to them they might try having some loyalty. If they insist people believe them give them good reasons to instead of indignation and vilification of anybody who doesn’t.
Factoid: Liberals are never wrong. Afterall, they almost elected Howard Dean as the Democratic presidential nominee until he said,”…THEN WE’RE GOING TO WASHINGTON, D.C. AND TAKE BACK THE WHITEHOUSE….YYYEEEAAHHHHH”!
Factoid: John McCain is a hero, but not a good politician. Barack Obama is not a hero and not a good politician. Hillary Clinton is a hero and a great politician until she woke up to answer the “bat phone” at 3am.
Factoid: More people have died as a passanger in Ted Kennedy’s car than have at the hands of AGW.
Frosty: Your complete lack of understanding is priceless. Absolutely priceless. Perhaps you could comment on evolution and why there are still apes.
I think anybody with both intelligence and honesty should understand that when it comes to does globle warming exist we don’t know for sure. The debate isn’t even remotely over. I think it is honest to say we think it is real or the prevailing theory is that it is real or even it is almost certainly is real. But to portray it NOT being real (as way too many in the EXXON/Mobil crowd do) is completely and totally dishonest and it simply and unquestionably can be referred to as a lie. I don’t trust people who lie to me and I don’t think anybody else should either so if the gullible crowd wants us to trust and believe them I think they need to stop with the lies for starters. Then they might try understanding that if they want people to have respect for them they might try having respect for people who don’t agree. Factoid: Sputnick is a reasoned, rational debater and is not a partisan hack and totally irrelevant to this thread.
hehe
Factoid: Nick Sput forgot to mention that I’m very handsome.
Factoid: Angelina Jolie’s hobby of flying around the world collecting exotic babies is contributing heavily to the polluting and cooling of the stratosphere according to realclimate.com. “But she’s hot, so that’s ok” remarked one concerned scientist.
Survey Question: Which is the biggest scam ever to be unleashed on innocent humans?
A) The IRS
B) Human induced GW
C) Tony Little Exercise Machines
D) Foothill High’s English Dept.
Debate isn’t over. There is evil on both sides. Al Gore and the UN want a Global Tax to stop global warming. Yeah, who’s going to get the money from the taxes? What is taxing going to help? Then you have companies like GE who are going to make billions of alternative energies. Then I talk to a meteorologist who says that the thermometers that take the temp of cities and are used to judge global warming aren’t setup right!! Some are on asphalt (hot!!) and some are to close to the the RF electronics (heat!) I just think it’s a hoax so big business can make more money off of us. Just look at both sides, please. Teachers shouldn’t teach something there not 100% sure of and I know alot of scientist from Metereologist to geologist and alot of them say there’s no way they know.
Factoid: According to ExxonMobile’s accounting department head (evil and racist Republican supporter), “our 2008 fiscal year profits would have been much, much higher, but we got a little crazy pouring billions and billions of dollars funding all of these AGW denialist conferences around the world. I take full responsibility for that.”
Testing….It’s not posting my valuable opinions.
Looks like pr puffery by good ol boys and the Heartless Institute.
Tim Ball, eh? - a man who was highly confused by just how long he’d been a professor, maybe as over a decade since he retired; never published on human impacts on climate change.
Got some info on Ballocks from him and others in my blog/warming forum thread on climate change hysteria and lies:
http://www.drmartinwilliams.com/global-warming/global-warming-lies-and-climate-change-hysteria.html
Factoid: Chuck Norris is immune to AGW.
Factoid: A recent poll revealed that Americans are slightly more worried about planet earth being destroyed by the Death Star then they are about global warming vaporizing the atmosphere. The Society of Concerned Science Fictionalist were quick to remind us that only last year, the GW threat had a 10% lead in the same poll. George Lucas responded to the news, “The rebellion had bigger worries than GW for obvious reasons, this spoke to the audience….it’s a big win for science fiction.”
You know, a lot of stuff damages the planet, volcanos damage the planet, asteroids damage the planet, wild fires damage the planet, earthquakes damage the planet, socialism damages the planet, marxism damages the planet, Saddam Hussein’s oil spills and fires damage the planet, Eric Estrada damages the planet….and YOU do to you big phonies.
It is the SUN stupid….not man causing climate changes!
Man caused climate change (of any consequence) is a convenient lie for the purpose of global scamming. A fake reason for responsible environmental stewardship is just that - a fake reason.
The real problem is OVERPOPULATION. We need more Grizzly Bears, they will control the Human population.
Factoid: There is not one scientific study ever proving that if you’re funded by ExxonMobile you’re full of crap. This was brought to Al Gore’s attention, he sighed, rolled his eyes and replied,”you know, I’ve spent 8 years in the White House with Bill Clinton. I’ve learned a little something about corruption, abuse of power, obstruction of justice, adultry and so on. You keep pushing me, you’ll end up in a plane crash too you little inferior nitwit.”
Factoid: There’s a whole bunch of underwater volcanos around the Antartic Peninsula, but have nothing to do with the ice falling into the ocean because concerned scientists already have concluded it was CO2 causing this dammit.
